Frankie Lane and Jo Stafford are two very popular singers of the day. If you are not familiar with them, you are in for a treat. Look ’em up!
Props to Gus Arriola as it appears that every one of these disc jockeys is legitimate – not bad for someone who spent most of his life in California.
Dorothy Kilgallen was a “popular Broadway columnist who was read coast to coast.” Tangentially related, read about her suspicious death and how it relates to the Kennedy assassination. Also, note the crazy cigarette smoke in the final panel. This “signature” is unique in 40+ years of Gus Arriola’s strip.
